About Virtual Therapy

How does virtual psychotherapy work?

Virtual psychotherapy sessions take place over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You simply log in from your computer, tablet, or phone at your scheduled time. Sessions are the same length and use the same evidence-based approaches as in-person therapy — the only difference is that you connect from the comfort of your own home.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes. Research consistently shows that virtual therapy is equally effective as in-person therapy for most conditions, including anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Many children actually open up more easily in their familiar home environment, and parents appreciate the convenience of not having to manage transportation and wait times.

What ages do you work with?

We provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and parents/caregivers. Our child and adolescent services typically begin around age 5 and extend through young adulthood. We also work with parents and caregivers of any age, as well as individuals dealing with health or medical concerns.

What technology do I need for virtual sessions?

You need a device with a camera and microphone (computer, tablet, or smartphone) and a reliable internet connection. We recommend a quiet, private space where you or your child can speak freely. We’ll send you a secure link before each session — no software downloads required.

Getting Started

How do I schedule my first appointment?

Start with a free 15-minute consultation. Call us at (512) 240-2633 or contact us online. During this brief call, we’ll discuss your needs, answer your questions, and determine if our services are the right fit for your family.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions. As progress is made, sessions may shift to biweekly or monthly. Your therapist will work with you to create a schedule that supports your goals while fitting into your family’s life.

What should I expect during the first session?

The first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding your concerns. For child and adolescent sessions, we may spend time with the parent(s) first, then the child, or both together. We’ll discuss goals, review relevant history, and begin developing a personalized treatment plan.

Payment & Insurance

How much does therapy cost?

Sessions with a licensed psychologist are $175, and sessions with a licensed psychological associate are $125. We also offer membership plans (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) that provide discounted rates when you purchase multiple sessions upfront. Visit our How It Works page for full pricing details.

Do you accept insurance?

We are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, many insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement. We’ve partnered with Thrizer to help you navigate the reimbursement process with ease. We’re happy to provide the documentation you need to submit claims to your insurance company.

Do you offer sliding scale or financial assistance?

We believe psychotherapy should be financially accessible. Our membership plans (buy 5 get 1 free, buy 8 get 1 free, buy 18 get 2 free) are designed to make ongoing therapy more affordable. Contact us to discuss which option works best for your family’s budget.

Texas-Specific Questions

Can I receive virtual therapy anywhere in Texas?

Yes. Dr. Kroll is a licensed psychologist in Texas, and our practice is authorized to provide virtual psychotherapy to clients located anywhere within the state — from the Panhandle to the Rio Grande Valley, and everywhere in between.

Is virtual therapy legal and regulated in Texas?

Absolutely. Texas fully authorizes telehealth services, including psychotherapy delivered via video. The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists regulates the practice, and all virtual sessions follow the same professional and ethical standards as in-person care.

I live in a rural part of Texas. Is virtual therapy a good option for me?

Virtual therapy is especially beneficial for families in rural Texas, where access to specialized child psychologists can be limited. All you need is an internet connection, and you’ll have access to the same level of expertise as families in the state’s major metro areas. Many of our rural Texas clients tell us that virtual therapy has been transformative for their families precisely because they couldn’t find specialized care locally.
