Fees and insurance at Little Dove Psychology - two birds at sunrise symbolizing a clear, direct relationship between family and psychologist

Insurance We Accept

Little Dove Psychology is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and Optum (UnitedHealthcare), and with Oscar Health. If your family carries one of these plans, you pay your plan's copay or cost share rather than our self-pay rate.

Both therapy and psychological testing are billed to insurance. Comprehensive ADHD, autism, and dyslexia evaluations are covered under these three plans the same way therapy sessions are. Our evaluating neuropsychologist, Dr. Kiersten Sippio, PsyD, is credentialed with each of them, which is what makes evaluations billable rather than self-pay only.

Our Optum contract is UnitedHealthcare's behavioral health contract, so it covers most United-family plans, among them UnitedHealthcare, UMR, All Savers, Surest (formerly Bind), Golden Rule, and UnitedHealthcare StudentResources.

For every other plan we are fee-for-service. You pay a flat fee, we provide a superbill, and many PPO plans reimburse a meaningful portion out of network. HSA and FSA funds apply either way.

Where Coverage Applies

Therapy is available in Texas and the other PSYPACT states, for children, teens, and college students. Insurance billing follows your plan, so an out-of-state student on a Texas parent's plan is usually still in network.

Evaluations are Texas only. Psychological and ADHD testing requires Texas licensure and is not covered by PSYPACT, so we test clients located in Texas at the time of the appointment, ages 6 through 55. If you are out of state and want testing, say so on the consultation and we will tell you plainly rather than start something we cannot finish.

Making It Work Financially

Most families use one or more of these:

In-network coverage: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Optum (UnitedHealthcare), and Oscar Health
Out-of-network benefits: submit our superbill; many PPO plans reimburse 50 to 80 percent after the deductible
HSA and FSA funds: therapy and evaluations are both qualified expenses, so most families can pay with pre-tax dollars
Verification before you commit: we check your benefits and tell you the expected cost before anyone is scheduled

What Stays the Same, However You Pay

Same clinicians

Hospital-trained, doctoral-level clinicians with small caseloads. Insurance does not route you to a different tier of provider.

Faster access

No months-long waitlist. Most families have a first therapy session the same week they reach out (about five days on average), and evaluations are typically scheduled within a week.

Care on your timeline

Sessions continue as long as they are helping. Frequency and format flex with your family's needs.

Transparent pricing

Self-pay rates are published above. In-network families get a benefits check and an expected cost before scheduling.

Privacy

We share only what a claim requires, and nothing more. For self-pay families, records stay entirely between you and your psychologist.

Superbills

For plans we are not in network with, we provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Many PPO plans cover a meaningful portion.

Insurance and Fees, Answered

Does Little Dove Psychology take insurance?

Yes. We are in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Optum (UnitedHealthcare), and Oscar Health. Members of these plans pay their copay or cost share instead of our self-pay rate. For all other plans we are fee-for-service and provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.

Is ADHD testing covered by insurance?

Yes. Comprehensive ADHD evaluations are billed to insurance for members of our three in-network plans: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and Optum (UnitedHealthcare). The same applies to autism, dyslexia and reading, combined ADHD and autism, and comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluations. Our evaluating neuropsychologist is credentialed with all three plans. For families on other plans, the self-pay rate is $2,200 for a comprehensive ADHD evaluation.

Are UMR, Surest, and other United plans included?

Yes. Our Optum contract is UnitedHealthcare's behavioral health contract, so it covers most United-family plans, among them UnitedHealthcare, UMR, All Savers, Surest (formerly Bind), Golden Rule, and UnitedHealthcare StudentResources. If you are unsure which entity administers your plan, read us the payer name on your card during the consultation. Oscar Health plans are also in network.

How much does therapy cost without insurance?

Sessions with a licensed psychologist are $225 and sessions with a licensed psychological associate are $150. Both are HSA and FSA eligible, and we provide a superbill you can submit to your plan for out-of-network reimbursement.

How much does an evaluation cost without insurance?

A comprehensive ADHD evaluation is $2,200, an autism evaluation is $2,500, a dyslexia and reading evaluation is $2,200, a combined ADHD and autism evaluation is $3,000, and a comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluation is $3,500. Each fee covers testing, scoring, record review, interpretation, a written report, and a live feedback session, with no separate hourly charges.

What if you are not in network with my plan?

You pay the self-pay rate and we provide a superbill you submit to your insurer. Many PPO plans reimburse 50 to 80 percent of an out-of-network session after the deductible is met. HSA and FSA funds apply to both therapy and evaluations.

Can you bill insurance if I live outside Texas?

For therapy, often yes. Therapy is available across Texas and the other PSYPACT states, and a college student on a parent's Texas plan is usually still in network. Evaluations are different: psychological testing requires Texas licensure, is not covered by PSYPACT, and is available only to clients located in Texas at the time of the appointment.

Will you check my benefits before I commit?

Yes. We verify your coverage and give you an expected cost before anyone is scheduled. The 15-minute consultation is free, Dr. Kroll takes it personally, and nothing is billed until you decide to move forward.
