Every practice says it's evidence-based. Few can show you the evidence with their name on it.
The hospital years
Trained where the hardest cases go
Dr. Kroll served as attending psychologist for the cystic fibrosis clinic at Children's Wisconsin and on the inpatient consultation team — the psychologists called to the bedside when a child's illness and mental health collide.
As an Assistant Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin, she cared for pediatric cardiology and heart transplant patients and built the mental health screening programs the clinics still use.

- Attending psychologist, pediatric heart transplant team
- Inpatient consultation-liaison team, Children's Wisconsin
- Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Medical College of Wisconsin
- Internal consultant, Mental & Behavioral Health department, Children's Wisconsin
The teaching
The clinician other clinicians learn from
Medical schools ask her to teach their students. Hospitals ask her to train their physicians. Psychology programs place their doctoral students under her supervision — including at Little Dove today.
When a professional wants to learn how children's minds and bodies interact, there's a good chance the training came from Dr. Kroll.
On the record
- 68+ invited presentations, from Grand Rounds to national conferences
- Ongoing trainer (2023–present) to a children's hospital's mental & behavioral health team — anxiety and ADHD treatment protocols, risk management, case formulation, and assessment
- Weekly supervisor of high-acuity psychiatric cases and consultant to the suicide prevention committee at a children's hospital
- Authored four clinical practice guidelines for a hospital mental & behavioral health department — including care protocols for neurodiverse youth
- Lecturer to medical students, psychiatry fellows, cardiology fellows, and pediatric residents
- Supervisor to three doctoral psychology students and a psychiatry fellow
- Author of continuing-education coursework used by practicing clinicians nationwide
The research
Virtual care isn't our workaround. It's our research area.
Years before most practices had heard of teletherapy, Dr. Kroll was publishing studies on it — testing group video therapy with teenagers, building national models for remote assessment, and training an entire hospital system to deliver care by screen.
Little Dove is virtual by design, built on evidence she helped create.
On the record
- 2019: published one of the early studies of group teletherapy for adolescents — before the pandemic made it necessary
- 2021: evaluated a hospital-wide virtual care training rollout
- 2022: co-authored the national telehealth assessment model for the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative
The community
Austin schools invite her back
When local schools want a psychologist to talk with their parents about stress, anxiety, and raising resilient kids, they call Dr. Kroll — and they keep calling.
These aren't ads. They're invitations.
On the record
- Eanes ISD — supporting the mental health of your teenager
- Magellan International School — managing stress in preteens and teens
- St. Andrews Episcopal School — what every parent should know about children's mental health
The practice
One founder's standard. Every clinician's practice.
Little Dove is a group practice by design — and the standard doesn't change with the clinician. Dr. Kroll selects and onboards every clinician here, the same way she trained doctoral psychologists and physicians inside hospital systems.
Whichever clinician your child sees, the protocols — and the bar — come from her.
What that means for your family
- Founder-led hiring — every clinician selected by a psychologist who has trained doctoral students and physicians
- Direct supervision — master's-level clinicians practice under the supervision of a licensed psychologist
- Shared protocols — the same evidence-based approaches across every clinician and every case
