Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy for Parents

Is this therapy for me, or coaching about my child?

Both are available, and they are different things. We offer dedicated psychotherapy for parents and caregivers focused on your own well-being: stress, burnout, anxiety, and mood. We also offer parent coaching focused on tools to support your child. In your free 15-minute consultation we will help you figure out which fits.

Do I need a diagnosis to start?

No. Parenting stress, caregiver fatigue, a family transition, or supporting a child with special needs are all reason enough. You do not have to be in crisis to benefit from a dedicated space of your own.

Do you offer evening or weekend sessions?

Yes. We built our schedule around evening and weekend appointments because we wanted to serve the families who cannot make 2 PM on a Tuesday work. Sessions are virtual, so there is no commute on either end.

Do you take insurance?

Little Dove Psychology is in network with Aetna, UnitedHealthcare (UHC), and Optum, with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas projected for late September or early October, and offers simple pay-as-you-go care for self-pay families. We provide a superbill you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and we go over all fees during your free consultation.

Where can I be located for sessions?

Anywhere in Texas or one of the other PSYPACT states. Many parents meet with us from home after bedtime, from an office over lunch, or from the car line at pickup.

Can the same practice see my child too?

Yes. We provide virtual therapy for kids, teens, and college students, so your family's care can live in one place, with clinicians who talk to each other.
