Hugo Picazo is a Texas-licensed clinical social worker and bilingual therapist who works with children, adolescents, adults, and families in English and Spanish. He brings more than a decade of behavioral health experience and supports clients through anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, and life transitions.
Hugo started out in community mental health in the Rio Grande Valley, teaching kids, teens, and families the skills that make home and school run more smoothly: emotion regulation, impulse control, managing anger, and getting along with others. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Texas at Brownsville and both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Since then he has worked in outpatient therapy, telehealth, and residential care for youth, where he also led and supervised clinical teams.
In session, Hugo draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused work, and mindfulness-based skills, with a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens. His approach is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based: he helps clients build coping skills, understand themselves more clearly, and move toward meaningful change. He is comfortable bringing parents into the work and coordinating with the other adults in a young person’s life, including teachers and school staff, when that helps.
